Seasonal Success with Weather-Driven Retail Strategies

Join Invent Analytics and Planalytics for a webinar designed to equip retail professionals with actionable strategies for navigating the unpredictable terrain of weather-based demand volatility.

Understanding customer desires and timing is crucial in the retail industry. However, one of the primary challenges of forecasting is the unpredictable nature of weather and how its fluctuations significantly influence consumer behavior. From heatwaves boosting sales of summer essentials to unexpected cold snaps escalating the need for warm apparel, these variations can disrupt even the most carefully crafted inventory strategies.

Explore the intersection of retail inventory optimization and predictive demand analytics in an exclusive webinar hosted by Invent Analytics and Planalytics. The event will feature strategies for enhancing supply chain operations and inventory management through expert insights into weather-driven analytics. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of the specific challenges supply chain and planning teams face due to weather’s influence on consumer behavior patterns.

Storm on the Horizon: How Ignoring the Weather’s Impacts Adds Error to Plans and Erodes Margins

Join Planalytics and ToolsGroup on Thursday, December 14, at 11 a.m. EST.

Co-Presenters

  • Evan Gold, EVP Global Partnerships & Alliances, Planalytics
  • Brett Bever, VP of Technical Sales Consulting, ToolsGroup

Heatwaves, polar vortexes, snowstorms, hurricanes, and routine weather volatility will always present a challenge for retailers and brands. The extreme events amplify the traffic and sales swings that are already caused by everyday changes in the weather (a few degrees warmer or cooler, rain vs. sunny skies, etc.).  Planning for the demand variability is no easy task given that the weather and its sales impacts rarely repeat from year-to-year across products and markets and often change significantly on a daily basis. This webinar shares how incorporating Planalytics’ weather-driven demand analytics into ToolsGroup solutions improve planning accuracy, boost sales by reducing out-of-stocks, and grow margins by minimizing inventory-related costs. Join us to see how applying historical and predictive weather-driven demand adjustments at scale within ToolsGroup enhances planning, allocation, replenishment, reporting, and more.

Predictive Analytics for Retail and Fashion

FIT’s Predictive Analytics for Retail and Fashion Certificate Program is an interactive 6-week course (June 14 – July 26, 2021, skips July 5th) that covers analytics techniques applied to retail and fashion-related industries. The course contains lectures, discussions, and case studies involving analytical techniques that can be applied to retail and fashion business scenarios. Both the analytics and business side of all calculations and techniques will be discussed. How these techniques are used and why they make sense for a business are woven together throughout the course.

You will learn how to analyze demand and retail data and how components such as seasonality, trend, and weather affect the data. You will apply statistical techniques to predict forecasts and measure their accuracy. In an extended case study for weather analytics, you will analyze the effect of weather on business data. For this you will work directly with visiting industry experts from Planalytics.

You will develop the ability to analyze inventory management decisions using the tools of statistics and probability and gain facility in decision making under uncertainty. This course will involve hands-on use of common spreadsheet tools with many specific applications involving demand, seasonality, trend, forecasting, tracking, lost sales, lead time, safety stock, promotions, advertising, pricing, and markdowns. Emphasis will be on common analytical techniques that can be leveraged for any business situation.
