A native of Oklahoma, Kevin is an agricultural economist and served on the faculties of the University of Maryland and Montana State before leaving academia in 2000 to devote his attention full time to helping farmers become better at grain marketing. Jude Kastens is a Research Assistant Professor at the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing Program (KARS) located on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Having earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics, focusing on statistical cross validation and floodplain mapping, Jude played a key role in developing a method for estimating crop yields utilizing satellite-generated biomass, or NDVI, data. This became the basis for Planalytics GreenReport Crop Yield Forecasts which, since 2002, have provided timely insights into the effects of weather on crop conditions and yield potential for eight crops, including Winter Wheat, Corn and Soybeans.  Jude is a native of Rawlins County in northwest Kansas where his family farms nearly 20,000 acres.
