Father’s Day Outlook from Planalytics

Dads in the East and West will reel in a favorable Father’s Day weekend.
Interior regions are on the hook for rain

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 21st. The National Retail Federation (NRF) projects record spending of $27.9 billion this year, up from $24 billion in 2025. Average spending is expected to top $226 per person, with 77% of consumers planning to celebrate. Apparel, special outings, and gift cards rank among the most popular purchases.

In the run-up to Father’s Day, much of the West will experience above normal heat before a late week cool down. Dry conditions hold throughout, supporting traffic into shopping destinations. Interior regions, including the Plains, Southeast, and Mississippi Valley, will be markedly wet and cool, with repeated rounds of heavy rain that will keep many shoppers indoors and steer purchasing online. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions will be warmer than normal early, transitioning to more seasonal temperatures by late week.

For reference, the run-up week to Father’s Day last year (June 8-14, 2025) in the U.S. was the coldest since 2023 and driest since 2023. Father’s Day (6/15) in 2025 in the U.S. was the hottest since 2021 and driest since 2016.
