  • Sterling Smith, Agricultural Commodity Specialist, Bloomberg
    Sterling Smith is an Agricultural Commodity Application Specialist for Bloomberg.  In this role he interacts with many members of the Bloomberg community as well as with Bloomberg’s agriculturally oriented users to help them get the most from their terminals. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Sterling was the Agricultural Market Analyst at Citibank in Chicago where on a daily basis he covered grains, oilseeds, cocoa, coffee, cotton, orange juice and sugar. Prior to Citi, he was a Senior Market analyst for CHS Hedging in St. Paul, MN and had operated as an introducing broker at the Chicago Board of Trade. One of Sterling’s first jobs was detasseling corn in eastern Nebraska.
  • Jeff Doran, Sr. AgriBusiness Meteorologist, Planalytics, Inc. 
    Jeff earned both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Meteorology from Penn State University.  In his current role at Planalytics, Jeff supports clients in the Agriculture, Insurance, Financial Services and Retail sectors, assisting them in understanding, quantifying and managing weather’s impact on their business performance in order to improve overall profitability.
  • Kevin McNew, President and Founder, GeoGrain, Inc. 
    Kevin McNew is President and Founder of GeoGrain Inc. Headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, GeoGrain  is the leading provider of cash grain pricing information to farmers, grain buyers, merchandisers and others.  Kevin’s firm updates approximately 50,000 bids each day from 4,400 buying locations around the country that can be found on the Bloomberg terminal.  GeoGrain’s roots can be traced back to 1999 when Kevin was a professor of agricultural economics at Montana State University and recognized the potential for precision-based farming decisions through the use of internet tools and applications.
