PECO Selects Planalytics EnergyBuyer for Natural Gas Market Analysis and Risk Management |

Planalytics, Inc. announced today that PECO, the Philadelphia-based electric and natural gas utility, has licensed its EnergyBuyer® service. The EnergyBuyer’s continuous evaluation of market conditions and year-ahead guidance bolsters PECO’s ability to effectively navigate an increasingly volatile price environment.
Planalytics EnergyBuyer is a price analysis and buying advisory service used to manage volatility and the increasing financial risk in energy markets. The service includes access to the EnergyBuyer website with live pricing (Nymex and Globex); buying, hedging and risk management suggestions; accounting and reporting functions; and charting and market research tools. EnergyBuyer clients also receive support services that include direct access to Planalytics meteorologists and market experts, weekly e-newsletters, consultation on risk management strategies and weather alerts.

The EnergyBuyer platform monitors market conditions to determine when prices are attractive or too high, delivering clients straightforward purchasing guidance in the form of “buy” or “wait” suggestions for individual commodities and months. Suggestions are based on Planalytics’ analytical models and predictive technologies that project how prices will be influenced by a combination of variables that include fundamental factors (demand, inventory levels, etc.), technical analysis (support and resistance levels, etc.), trading dynamics (open interest, spread positions, etc.) and future weather conditions. Pricing and suggestions are available for natural gas, heating oil, crude oil and RBOB (reformulated gasoline).
