Planalytics Adds Decision Tools to Business Weather Intelligence Platform

Planalytics Inc. announced today that two new Decision Tools are available through its Business Weather Intelligence® Platform. Planalytics PlannerSM with Planalytics AllocationSM and Planalytics WeatherAuditSM join a family of Decision Tools that transform weather data into actionable information presented within specific business contexts. Planalytics provides the essential link between weather and business, helping companies improve performance with insights that optimize pre-season planning, identify in-season adjustments and enhance post-season analyses.

Planalytics Planner with Planalytics Allocation is a powerful tool that incorporates weather-driven demand indices into a company’s pre-season plans and in-season tactical decisions. The tool normalizes demand curves by removing the impact weather had on seasonal business the year before, resulting in smarter pre-season plans with reduced margins of error. The tool enables retailers to view the shape of the season across time and location aggregated to a total store base. Companies can input their own sales data and have the ability to construct “what if scenarios”, making it possible to adjust weather impacts across time and location. Information can also be interfaced directly with third party planning systems.

Planalytics WeatherAudit is a daily “one-pager” designed to augment Flash sales reports and help retailers understand “yesterday”. Delivered via email, Planalytics WeatherAudit provides temperature and precipitation maps for the previous day along with the variances from the NRF calendar date last year. This “day of the week” (e.g. “Week 43 Saturday” of this year vs. “Week 43 Saturday” of last year) comparison provides an at-a-glance “apples to apples” understanding and perspective of the weather conditions affecting business. Planalytics WeatherAudit also provides the city level temperature and precipitation statistics from the prior day along with year-on-year changes and normals.
