- Seasonal demand got off to a slow start in March. Winter kept its grip on many markets through the first half of the month with sales only beginning to shows signs of strength in the last couple of weeks.
- April has provided opportunities. In general, warmer comparisons to LY in highly populated markets have offset some inclement weather to produce stronger sales versus 2018. How will the weather influence sales for the month (and Retail Q1) overall?
- Matching the strong weather-driven sales from May 2018 will be difficult. For many, spring didn’t arrive until May last year! Sales were unleashed in May which ended up being the warmest in the U.S. in over 50 years.
The webinar will consider how the season has unfolded so far from a weather impact perspective and, keeping in LY’s dramatic weather swings, are businesses are facing the risk of a “short season” with limited opportunities to outperform comps? Find out on April 18th when Planalytics discusses the year-over-year weather changes and “puts a number” on how much the weather is helping or hurting retailer sectors and seasonal merchandise categories this spring.
